The statistical data we collected from 32 public perfume formulas suggests that the mean dose for musk indane is 3.1%. The typical lower limit is 1.7%, and the usual higher limit is 5.0%. The highest amount of musk indane we encountered in any single formula is 10%, and the lowest was 0.20%.
Please note that according to the IFRA Standard Category 4, the level of musk indane should not exceed 2.0% of the final product. Assuming that you will be using your formula for an alcoholic perfume at a 10% dilution, this means you should only use musk indane at 20% or less of the formula.
