The statistical data we collected from 17 public perfume formulas suggests that the mean dose for bergamot oil is 3.4%. The typical lower limit is 2.8%, and the usual higher limit is 8.0%. The highest amount of bergamot oil we encountered in any single formula is 12%, and the lowest was 0.010%.
Please note that according to the IFRA Standard Category 4, the level of bergamot oil should not exceed 0.40% of the final product. Assuming that you will be using your formula for an alcoholic perfume at a 10% dilution, this means you should only use bergamot oil at 4.0% or less of the formula.
