The statistical data we collected from 224 public perfume formulas suggests that the mean dose for citronellol is 2.5%. The typical lower limit is 1.5%, and the usual higher limit is 5.0%. The highest amount of citronellol we encountered in any single formula is 25%, and the lowest was 0.015%.
Please note that according to the IFRA Standard Category 4, the level of citronellol should not exceed 12% of the final product. Assuming that you will be using your formula for an alcoholic perfume at a 10% dilution, this means you should only use citronellol at 120% or less of the formula.
